5–10 minutes a day works best for toddlers. Little and often beats long sessions.

🐉 Who is Lumi?
Lumi is SpeakUp! Kids' friendly dragon mascot. She lives in the app and cheers your child on as they learn new words. Tap her on the home screen and she'll say something encouraging!
🎤 Why does the app ask for microphone access?
SpeakUp! Kids asks for microphone permission so your child can practice saying words out loud as part of the learning loop. We never record, store, or transmit any audio. The microphone is used only to encourage speaking — no sound data ever leaves the device.
You can revoke this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
⭐ How do stars and mastering words work?
Every time your child taps "I Said It!" they earn a star and the word is marked as practiced. If they say the same word 3 times in a session it becomes Mastered and earns 3 bonus stars. You can see all mastered words in the My Stars tab.
🔄 How do I reset my child's progress?
- Open the app and tap the My Stars tab (⭐ icon at the bottom)
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Reset Progress
- Confirm in the dialog — all stars and mastered words will be cleared
This action cannot be undone. All progress data is stored locally on your device only and cannot be recovered after a reset.

SpeakUp! Kids currently includes 134 words across 8 worlds:
- 🐾 Animals — 20 words (cat, dog, elephant, giraffe, butterfly…)
- 🍎 Food — 18 words (apple, banana, watermelon, ice cream…)
- 👨👩👧 Family — 15 words (mama, dada, baby, sister, brother…)
- 🎨 Colors — 16 words (red, blue, rainbow, gold, purple…)
- 🧸 Objects — 18 words (ball, balloon, umbrella, drum…)
- 🌿 Nature — 17 words (tree, rain, mountain, ocean, flower…)
- 👀 Body — 15 words (eyes, nose, tummy, elbow, finger…)
- 🚗 Vehicles — 15 words (car, rocket, helicopter, submarine…)
We're always adding more — update the app regularly for new content.
🔒 Is SpeakUp! Kids safe for my child?
Absolutely. SpeakUp! Kids collects zero personal data, contains no ads, no in-app purchases, no social links, and no external content. It is fully COPPA compliant and meets Apple's Kids App Store guidelines.
Everything stays on your device. There is no account, no login, and no internet connection required to use the app.
📱 What devices does SpeakUp! Kids support?
SpeakUp! Kids runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later. It works in portrait orientation and is optimised for one-handed use by small children.
🗑️ How do I delete all data?
Simply delete the app from your device. Since all data is stored locally in the app's own storage, deleting SpeakUp! Kids removes everything completely. No data remains on any server because none was ever sent there.
